This is a great last minute costume idea for your Minecraft lovers! All of the supplies, I had on hand AND cost me zero dollars!

All you need are a few household items, a few hours, and a little crafty magic; then you have yourself a pretty awesome costume for you child that all of their friends will be jealous of!

Materials needed for DIY Minecraft Creeper Costume

To begin, cut the opening flaps from the bottom of the head cardboard box. Cut the backside out of the body cardboard box. Next, cut the neck and arm holes out.

Using masking/duct tape, tape all of the edges and openings on both boxes.

Use Tape To Seal Rough Edges And Box Openings

Using a light spray paint, spray the outer surface areas of both boxes; all sides. This will lay a good primer for when you administer the colored acrylic paint. Allow to dry for 1 hour.

Next, Use a 12 Inch ruler and a pencil to draw 1 Inch squares on all outer sides of each box.

Use A 12 Inch Ruler to Measure a 1 Inch By 1 Inch Pattern On Outer Surface Area Of Boxes

On the front side of the face cardboard box, draw the location of where the black eyes and mouth of the creeper will go. Next, within those black markings, draw smaller boxes for the eyes and mouth that your child will use to see, talk and breathe out of. Cut these smaller boxes out with scissors.

Using masking/duct tape, tape all of the edges of the eyes and mouth openings.

Use Tape To Cover Rough Edges Created By The Mouth And Eye Holes

Paint the creeper’s eyes and mouth black with acrylic paint. In no particular order (literally random), paint the 1 inch squares with 4 different shades of green until the squares have been painted. Allow to dry and your costume is complete!
