Instant Pot Split Pea Soup

Instant Pot Split Pea Soup

Christmas is over and what a better way to use your Christmas ham leftovers (from The Honey Baked Ham, of course!) than whipping up an extremely tasty pot of Split Pea Soup! Instant Pot Split Pea Soup that is!

I am SOLD on the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker! My Mother In-Law got me a 6-Quart Pioneer Woman one (she knows me so well) for Christmas…..so naturally…..I used it for the first time, the day after! I had all the ingredients needed to make split pea soup…..so, it was settled! Now, y’all…..every single time I have made split pea soup in the crock pot…..the peas would NEVER soften and break down (EVEN WHEN I COOKED THE DANG THING ALL DAY)! After using the Instant Pot, the soup was COMPLETELY cooked and it only took 40 minutes total (including vent time)….my Husband looked at me and said, “so this is what split pea soup is supposed to taste like…..it’s really good!” That being said…..be prepared for an abundance of healthy Instant Pot recipes coming your way! My life is changed!

In a 6-Quart Instant Pot (the inner pot), combine all of the ingredients. *DO NOT fill pot more than 2/3 full.* Make sure the outside of the inner pot is clean and completely dry before inserting into the outer Instant Pot. Close the lid and set pressure vent to SEALING. Press the SOUP button and +/- to 25 minutes.

After cooking is done and you hear 3 beeps, allow the pressure to naturally release for 15 minutes. Next, turn valve to VENTING to emit steam.

Open the lid and stir; serve hot. The Split Pea Soup will thicken even more within the hour and tastes EVEN BETTER the next day as the flavors marinate!
