This is the last cookie recipe blog post of the 2020 Holiday Season…..WOOHOO! Now…..you either love sesame seeds or you don’t…..there is no in-between. If you do love sesame seeds (like me) then this recipe is for you!
In a stand mixer (using a paddle attachment), mix the flour, sugar and butter until the texture becomes sand-like. Seperate the eggs (egg whites in a small bowl and add the yolks into the stand mixer); add the milk, vanilla extract, honey and lemon zest into the stand mixer; mix on low-medium speed until combined and the dough has formed. Refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, preheat your oven to 350°F and roll the dough into 1″ balls in the palm of your hands. Whisk 3 Tablespoons of water with the egg whites in a small bowl. In another small bowl, add the toasted sesame seeds. Dip each dough ball into the egg white mixture then directly into the sesame seeds. Place on parchment lined baking sheets 2″ apart. Bake for 25 minutes.
Transfer cookies to a cooling rack until completelt cooled. Store in an airtight container.
